Most likely from Exodus + -ia. There is no evident connection between the sense of the components and Exodia himself. The early 2000s German translation of the card name "Exodia the forbidden one" indicates that the translators mistook Exodia as feminine ("Exodia, die Verbotene", which translation still prevails today) because of the evidently feminine ending, whereas in the Spanish translation "Exodia el prohibido" the creature's gender was correctly rendered.
