noun
Meaning 1
A small exterior door to a house that opens to a built-in icebox (“cold food storage unit cooled by ice”) ice container compartment, so that the ice delivery man can place fresh ice directly into the ice container in an ice box. (As iceboxes were replaced by refrigerators, these doors fell out of use and were no longer built.)
