Borrowed from Hebrew קַדִּישׁ (kadish, “kaddish”), from Aramaic קַדִּישׁ (qaddīš, “holy; holy person”). Doublet of kiddush. The plural form kaddishim is borrowed from Hebrew קַדִּישׁים (kadishim).
