Etymology
Learned borrowing from Latin latibulum (“den of animals; hiding place, refuge”), from lat(eō) (“to conceal, hide, lie hidden; to be hidden and in safety”) (ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *leh2- (“to be concealed”)) + -bulum (suffix denoting a place or vessel). Doublet of latebra. The plural form latibula is a learned borrowing from Latin latibula.
