Etymology

From Medieval Latin rōborātiō (“strengthening, confirmation, validity”), from rōborāre (“to strengthen, to confirm”) + -tiō (“-tion: forming abstract nouns”), from rōbur (“reddish oak; hardness, strength”) + -āre (“forming verbs”). Equivalent to roborate + -tion.
