The use of French Notre Dame (“Our Lady”) originates from Chanoinesses de Saint-Augustin de la congrégation Notre-Dame (“Canonesses of Saint-Augustin of the Notre-Dame Congregation”), an order founded by Peter Fourier and Alix Le Clerc from which the School Sisters of Notre Dame developed.
